Accounting software company Sage has acquired Fairsail, a cloud-based human resources (HR) firm, in a bid to boost the personnel capabilities of Sage software packages.
Founded in 2007, Fairsail claims to offer larger businesses more visibility over their human capital, making it easier to manage workforces.
Fairsail’s end-to-end cloud system is used by more than 140,000 mid-sized companies, including multinational businesses like Paddy Power, Betfair, Skyscanner, Trainline and Trustpilot.
Previously a minority stakeholder, Sage chose to buy the remaining shares of Fairsail after the success of joint project Sage People, which launched last year.

Happy Anniversary to the Internet

29th October 1969 is the key date in the launch of the internet that has developed into the worldwide web we know today.
The internet is the connecting of devices around the world initially through the use of telephone lines. The initial test was to send the message LOGIN from one computer to another but the connection dropped out before the G was received. Anyone who experienced the early days of dial-up internet connections will know that feeling!

Each year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, many British people observe a Two Minute Silence. Armistice Day on 11 November marks the end of the First World War and is a day to remember and honour those who have paid the price for our freedom. Today remembers not only those who fought not only in World Wars, but the more than 12,000 British Servicemen and women killed or injured since 1945.

Those Cloudaccountant.co.uk staff that wish to, will be observing the Two Minute Silence at 11am today. We hope that our customers and suppliers will understand that we will not be making or answering calls whilst we pay our respects.
