It recognises the use of technology to provide real time data and to help with the import of data. It identifies the importance of data security . It also focuses on the fact that accountants will need to provide additional add value services.

AccountancyWeb identifies the saving in time and money in selecting hardware and software as it is all hosted externally. It also recognises with the improvement in data entry, real time information and financial/management reporting there will be more time spent running and managing the business.

Xero is a Cloud based accounting software that was originally launched in New Zealand but is now one of the UK’s leading accounting software providers. Xero follows the Saas (Software as a Service) Model. A key feature is the automated import of bank and credit card statements. All data is stored securely in the cloud.

KPMG are one of the largest accountancy firms in the UK & the World and they have identified cloud accounting for small and medium sized businesses to be the way forward. They have launched KPMG Enterprise for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. They are said to be investing £40m into Enterprise.
