Each year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, many British people observe a Two Minute Silence. Armistice Day on 11 November marks the end of the First World War and is a day to remember and honour those who have paid the price for our freedom. Today remembers not only those who fought not only in World Wars, but the more than 12,000 British Servicemen and women killed or injured since 1945.

Those Cloudaccountant.co.uk staff that wish to, will be observing the Two Minute Silence at 11am today. We hope that our customers and suppliers will understand that we will not be making or answering calls whilst we pay our respects.

At CloudAccountant we have a large number of clients who’s main focus is online sales via eBay, Amazon and/or their personal E-commerce website such as Shopify. With our experience, knowledge and with our tailored accountancy packages we can help you grow your business.

Happy Anniversary to the Internet

29th October 1969 is the key date in the launch of the internet that has developed into the worldwide web we know today.
The internet is the connecting of devices around the world initially through the use of telephone lines. The initial test was to send the message LOGIN from one computer to another but the connection dropped out before the G was received. Anyone who experienced the early days of dial-up internet connections will know that feeling!

Although this particular scheme has been around for a while now there are still a number of letters reaching our office from the “Register of Companies and Businesses” who will, for £190, put your company details on their website.
When they say ‘company details’ what they actually mean is just the company name and address, which can be found on the Companies House website with very little effort.

Why you don’t need a Local Accountant

Google searches are dominated by people searching for local accountants with search terms such as London Accountants, Manchester Accountants etc being highly used terms.
While having a local accountant can be beneficial if you prefer face to face meetings it is by no means necessary and indeed many searches are now made for online accountants, internet accountants or web accountants.
Accountancy is changing. Gone are the days where you needed to find a local accountant. Why spend time in meetings when you can converse quickly, in your own comfort and time by telephone, email, skype or live chat? Meetings take time and cost money and you are normally charged for the accountant’s time.

Print or Email P45s?

Payroll (and in particular the issuing of P45’s, P60’s etc.) are one of the major dislikes of business owners who run their own small or medium sized business.
Clients often ask their accountants “Why do we need to print out P45’s for leavers. Why can’t we simply email them?”
And the answer used to be that we agree it doesn’t make sense but HMRC say you have to print them (and there were even rules on the type of paper you had to use!).
